Through this webinar series, we will spotlight industry leading research and data providers as well as DMOs and travel experts from around the globe in search of answers to timely, critical questions. 

In each webinar, we will focus on:

Funding Futures: The Impact and Future of Tourism & DMO Funding in Response & Recovery from COVID-19

This webinar will summarize the findings and recommendations from “Funding Futures,” a major study of the recovery and future of tourism and DMO funding coming out of the COVID-19 crisis. The project analyzed 115 North American cities, all 50 U.S. states and 10 Canadian provinces to summarize the current situation, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, and the outlook for recovery. The study also introduces and explores nine alternative funding options for DMOs to be “built back better” – options for more balanced, resilient and sustainable funding.

Our global webinar series continues with an update from the Emerald Isle and a look at fall travel in the U.S. Niall Tracey, Director of Marketing of Fáilte Ireland, returns to provide an update on critical insights and lessons from their work in the recovery of tourism over the summer. Amir Eylon, President & CEO of Longwoods International, will also join with the latest research from the COVID-19 Travel Sentiment Study on how U.S. travelers are planning for travel in the fall and winter while also reviewing trends and takeaways from the last six months of this research study.

Amir Eylon, President & CEO of Longwoods International, highlighted insights from their most recent sentiment research as well as trends from the last four months. John Lambeth, President & CEO of Civitas, joined to discuss a new study on the future of DMO funding. Inga Hlín Pálsdóttir, former Director of Visit Iceland, shared takeaways from Iceland’s recovery from the crisis.

As part of TTRA’s free weekly online forum, Chris Adams, Head of Research & Insights with Miles Partnership, shared the 7 data points that tell the story of tourism’s struggling recovery and the 8 essential steps the U.S. needs to restart tourism in a more sustained, robust manner.


Reimagining Major Travel Experiences

In this unique webinar presented by Ketchum and Miles, panelists from Qatar Airways, Sandals Resorts International, Casa Bacardi and the San Francisco Giants discussed how they’ve maintained a connection with their customers through these unprecedented times and how they plan to resume marketing – and operating – in a world that is likely to require a brand-new approach to the customer experience.

Edition 7: Insights from Arrivalist and Hamiliton & Waikato Tourism

Matt Clement, SVP of Marketing with Arrivalist, shared insights on drive markets across the U.S. that are improving and what destinations can learn from these new trends and observed timelines. Jason Dawson, Chief Executive of Hamilton & Waikato Tourism in New Zealand, discussed its Mighty Local campaign as well as the recovery of domestic tourism in New Zealand.

Edition 6: Lessons from Industry Experts on Past Crises

Three industry experts who navigated past crises as leaders in Florida tourism’s response, Chris Thompson, President & CEO of Brand USA, DT Minich, President/CEO of Experience Kissimmee, and Ursula Boll, Senior VP of Miles Partnership, joined to revisit critical lessons that can be applied today.

Amir Eylon, President & CEO of Longwoods International, shared findings from the first two months of the COVID-19 Travel Sentiment Study. Laura Aalto, CEO of Helsinki Marketing in Finland, then gave an update on Helsinki and its continued remarkable engagement with locals and visitors around the world.

Edition 4: Phocuswright’s International Research & Travel Michigan

Madeline List, Research Analyst with Phocuswright, shared key findings and takeaways on COVID-19’s impact on traveler sentiment in addition to an early look at travel intent post-pandemic. Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, shared practical steps the state is taking in planning for recovery.

Special Edition Earth Day Webinar

This webinar featured an update from Destination Analysts’ weekly Traveler Sentiment research, insights on how Colorado and Oregon are thinking about sustainability during the COVID-19 crisis and throughout recovery and three next-step opportunities for destinations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edition 2: Mobile Data with UberMedia & Chattanooga Tourism Co.

In the second edition of our Clarity in a Time of Crisis webinar series, UberMedia’s Evan Saunders shared the latest analysis of mobile location data from destinations around the world. Chattanooga Tourism Co.’s, Dave Santucci, showcased some of the DMO’s most impactful projects.
