Miles is coordinating and curating the latest research and updates from industry leaders related to COVID-19 and the tourism industry in an effort to bring you thoughtful and fact-based insights and recommendations. Through this webinar series, we will spotlight industry leading research and data providers as well as DMOs and travel experts from around the globe in search of answers to timely, critical questions. 

In each webinar, we will focus on:

Funding Futures: Dedicated Funding & Tax Increment Financing

Funding Futures is a major study of the recovery and future of tourism and DMO funding coming out of the COVID-19 crisis. The project analyzed 115 North American cities, all 50 U.S. states and 10 Canadian provinces to summarize the current situation, the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, and the outlook for recovery. The study also introduces and explores ten alternative funding options for DMOs to be “built back better” – options for more balanced, resilient and sustainable funding.

In this webinar, Civitas and Miles Partnership will review and discuss the funding options “Dedicated Funding” and “Tax Increment Financing” in more detail.

Funding For Tomorrow: A Transatlantic Look at Tourism Funding Insights & Options for North American and European DMOs

Two major studies on the future of tourism taxes and other funding sources have recently been completed and offer invaluable insights and recommendations for fresh thinking in tourism taxes and funding options for DMOs. “Funding Futures” was a major North American study that was completed in parallel with the comprehensive European study, “Taxing Tourism.” Both studies include an exhaustive analysis of current and potential new funding sources in addition to results from major surveys of more than 180 DMOs across North America and Europe.
